Rules
- Respect your fellow players. Bullying, harassment, and other offensive behavior will not be tolerated in any capacity. Please speak to a mod if you experience any trouble with another player.
- Don't blur the IC/OOC line. The game is not a venue for your drama. You are not your character, and vice versa. Do your best to remain IC while not abusing OOC knowledge. Respect other players' wishes to keep information about their character secret.
- Tag around. This should be obvious, but if you join and only play with a select few people, we'll advise you to take it to a musebox.
- No god-modding. This includes anything from controlling other players' characters to ridiculous battle abilities. Despite how it may be depicted in canon, no character is universally impervious to harm.
- Keep your writing legible. Occasional mistakes are inevitable; constant failure to use proper spelling and grammar is not.
- Post notice for depictions of sexual content or extreme violence.
- Due to the nature of this game, we require your application to be posted on your character's journal. Samples may be omitted.
- You must also have a contact post on your character's journal. It's up to you if it's anon-enabled or tracks IPs.
- The character limit is currently three.
Immunity/Invulnerability: Allowed to a degree, but greatly reduced.
Resurrection/Instant Death: Disabled.
Summoning: May be disabled or restricted.
Teleportation/Interdimensional Travel: Limited?
Time Manipulation: Depends. The ability to stop time is limited to the duration of an Hourglass.
Application
- Applications must be complete before posting. Respond to your original comment if your application is too long.
- No applications for real people or 'joke' characters.
- Can I app a character from an ongoing canon or one that hasn't been released in English? What about minor characters?
In most cases we will be lenient on this, however we reserve the right to decline a character for whatever reason.
Characters from ongoing canons are fine if there is substantial material to base them on. (One chapter of a current manga is not enough.)
If the canon is scheduled to be released in English, you'll have to wait. Canons with no English release date will be permitted one month after their original release.
Minor characters will be judged on whether they have enough personality to be playable. (Characters with just a name and picture would not be permitted.)
OU (Original Universe- Characters that remain unchanged from their canon source.)
AU (Alternate Universe- Characters who don't fit into the above or below categories. This includes anything from canon-splices and history deviations to characters imported from previous games. See TVtropes for more information. Deviations must be significant for them to be considered AU??)
Game AU (Fonic Drift AU- Characters set within the game's perimeters. These can include panfandom characters who have always lived within the game's setting or canon characters (Anise, etc). The latter require discussion with a mod before being apped as they are essential to the plot, and only one of each will be allowed.)

Items: Items you wish your character to bring. See the FAQ for what is and isn't allowed.
Appearance: While not a requirement, a quick summary may benefit other players if there's any changes/they're non-canon/an OC.
Skills/Abilities:
History/Personality: Wiki links are permitted for history. If your character's canon history is limited, you may use reasonable headcanon to help support their current personality. Please note what parts are headcanon.
-For AUs, include their history and go into depth on how your character's world is different from canon. This includes characters with previous game memories. You needn't cover every detail, but please note major developments that affected your character's growth.
-For Game AUs,
Explain your character's past, focusing on events that affected their personality and how, exactly, it shaped them into the person they are today. Use their background, as well as canon examples, to explain their personality to us.
Sample:
There is no word requirement, though it should be enough to display your grasp of the character through both action and introspection. You may use posts/threads from elsewhere if it was started within the last month.
FAQ
- Do I need to play Tales of the Abyss to join?
It is not a requirement, no. It is, however, highly advised that you be familiar with the game's story and plot, as Fonic Drift examines one of the many possible futures open to Auldrant and contains spoilers of every kind.
- Do you mind if I tell my friends about Fonic Drift / advertise?
You're more than welcome to invite your friends, but please refrain from making sweeping advertisements.
- What is your application system?
- Can my character start with any items?
This depends. No advanced technological items
- Can I canon update my character?
Of course!
- Are characters allowed to break the fourth wall?
- What is the format for RPing?
Both comment spam and prose, or any mix of the two is allowed. Posting format should be as follows:
Characters: Who's involved this scene.
Setting: When and where the scene occurs.
Content: For when content needs a warning.
Summary: A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what brought it about, etc.
- What happens upon arrival?
How your character arrives is up to you.
- Why is my character here?
- Can my character leave?
- Can my character die?
Unless we're talking typical 'RPG battle death', then no. Death is permanent in this game and will amount to you dropping the character. Planning a death must be discussed with a mod first.
- Where's my character to live?
Almost all towns and cities have inns your character can utilize. These require money, though you may handwave obtaining it by having your character defeat monsters or working part-time for NPCs. Or you can use this as a springboard for posts!
- How do the characters communicate?
First off, there is no network. Bulletin boards and carrier pigeons
